Mini-EVR™

The Mini-EVR™ is the single phase power conditioner - voltage regulator that saves you money!

Based on the same technology found in UST's popular Sure-Volt™ power conditioner, the Mini-EVR™ provides the same very fast response, high overload capacity, industrial-grade durability and easy application as its big brother. The Mini-EVR™ is designed for small, single phase loads and is packaged in a smaller, lower cost configuration for indoor or outdoor application. But, most importantly, the Mini-EVR™ offers superior protection from power quality problems without busting your bottom line with high energy costs like traditional power conditioners.

For more than a half century, the ferroresonant transformer (also called constant voltage transformer or CVT) has been the standard for small, single phase power conditioning applications - and the technology has changed little since it was first developed. While the CVT performs well, two characteristics are immediately noticeable; they are hot and noisy. The heat and noise are more than annoying, they are energy dollars being wasted because of poor efficiency.

The Mini-EVR™ operates at 99% efficiency: period. The efficiency is unaffected by load, load power factor or load type. On the other hand, a CVT frequently operates at efficiencies as low as 50% because of various application characteristics. The difference in efficiencies means one thing - money wasted. Some typical dollar savings that can be realized by using the Mini-EVR™ instead of a CVT are shown in the figure.

The Mini-EVR™ saves you money from the first day for new applications, but replacing an existing CVT can also let you keep more of your energy dollars. Depending on the application, the payback in energy savings by replacing a CVT with the Mini-EVR™ typically ranges from 6 to 24 months.

For OEMs, the Mini-EVR™ provides numerous advantages over the CVT:

  • Very low heat rejection can mean smaller enclosures and reduced cooling requirements
  • Significantly reduced weight means less structural material and more mounting flexibility
  • High energy efficiency can enhance finished product value to the end user
  • NEMA 3R enclosure permits outdoor/damp location application
  • For bare frame applications, the Mini-EVR™ is significantly smaller than the CVT
  • High overload capacity means no oversizing is required for motor or magnetic loads
